From the eastern sky there was a beautiful maiden named Alunsina. Inspite of her lovely characteristics the maiden is still unmarried so, Kaptan, the king of the Gods, ordered her to marry. All unmarried Godsof the different domains of the universe came to see and get Alunsina’s hand and they all won, Alunsina gave them her detachable left hand to all the unmarried Gods who would like to have it. She choose to marry a mortal, Datu Paubari, the mighty ruler of Halawod.
Her decision angered her other suitors. A meeting of the council of the Gods were called by Maklium-sa-t’wan, God of the sea, but no one came, So he planned to bring harm to the newlyweds, he planned to destroy hilawod by flood. Alunsina and Paubari escaped harm through Suklang Malayan, sister of Alunsina, who learned the plan and warned the two.
After the flood waters subsided, Paubariand Alunsina returned to the plains secretly, suddenly, while the two are walking, Alunsina was slept and roled unto the mouth of the river, where the decided to settle. Several months passed and alunsina became pregnant. She delivered a set of triplets and summoned the high priest to perform the rites of the Gods of Mount Madya-as to ensure the good health of the children. When the ceremony has over, He opened the north side of of the room and then the three turened into handsome young men.
Labaw Dongon, the eldest of the three, asked his parents permission to go to a place called Handug for he have heard that Angoy Ginbinitan, a beautiful maiden, lived. The journey took several days, for he have realized that he’s on a wrong path. So he walked across plains, climbed up mountains until he reached the mouth of halawod river, noticing that he’s finally home and the maiden is at their neighborhood. The father of the maiden asked Labaw Dongon to fight the monster Manalintad as part of his dowry. He went off to confront the monster and with the help of his magic belt, Labaw killed the monster and brought to Angoy Ginbinitan’s father the mnsters tail.
Labaw Dongon and his bride proceeded home after the wedding. The moment they arrived home, Labaw Dongon told his mother to take care of his wife because he is taking another quest, this time to get the hand of Abyong of Tarmabang Burok.
Labaw won the hand of Abyong and also took her home. Before long he went to another journey, this time to Gadlum to ask for the hand of Malintang Yawa who is the young bride of Saragnayan, the lord of Darkness.
The moment he set foot on the ground, Saragnayan blocked him and startes fighting. Labaw submerged Sargnayan underwater for seven years, suddenly, labaw fell with no consciousness, for he can’t breathe underwater that long, so he was imprisoned by Saragnayan beneath his house.
Back home, Angoy, and Abyang both delivered sons. Only few days after they were born, Aso Manga and Manga Aso embarked to look for their father. They rode their sailboats through the region of eternal darkness and row back home to asked where their father is, hen they rode again and finally reached Saragnayan’s home. Manga Aso challenged Saragnayan to a duel and defeated it, giving him the freedom of his father.
Labaw dongons defeat and subsequent imprisonment angered his brother Humadapnon that he swore to God of Madya’-as that he would avenge on all saragnayans followers.
